Is This the Luckiest Winter Loot Box in Overwatch?

The loot boxes are always a nice little reward for levelling up on Overwatch. With the introduction of the Winter Wonderland event in the holiday season, loot boxes were rewarded to players for participating in the seasonal arcade modes, giving those taking part a box for every three wins.

This would go on for up to nine wins, after which it would reset following a specified period of time. As most of you will know who have played Overwatch, Loot Boxes offer additional cosmetic options for the characters, including skins, voice lines, sprays and victory poses. The seasonal event brought with it festive-themed items to commemorate the time of year, with new items with a wintery twist up for grabs. In-game purchases are not something I usually partake in, but the lure of the Winston Yeti skin proved too much, and I ended up spending more than I care to admit buying loot box packs from the Xbox Store. All to no avail, as the event now draws to an end and I am sadly without said desired skin.

One user did seem to have a stroke of luck however. Posted on Reddit by user BubbleNine, a player managed to acquire a rather neat set of unlocked goodies. Items in the boxes are colour coded depending on their rarity, with White/Green representing common, Blue/Teal being rare, Purple/Pink for Epic and the most desired Gold/Orange are legendary. This lucky player was awarded with three legendary items and one epic item, including two seasonal items for Mei and Torbjorn.

The Winter Wonderland event comes to a close very soon, and the prospect of me getting my hands on that Yeti Winston skin are very slim indeed. Still, who knows? You might get lucky, be sure to indulge whilst there’s still time.
