Life is Strange is an episodic adventure game developed by Dontnod Entertainment and Published by Square Enix. There is a large and committed fanbase for the title, as evident by the always-active Reddit community. It was recently announced that there will be a second season of the 2015 cult hit and so we here at MMOexaminer would like to celebrate the news by showcasing some great Life is Strange cosplay.
The Deviantart user Flopywette specializes mainly in posting Life is Strange cosplay on their account. The newest picture, posted just today, shows Chloe Price taping a Rachel Amber missing poster to a post. It is a dark picture and one that likely stirs up emotion in fans of the game.
For those who might not know, Life is Strange is a game that captured hearts. The story was simple to start with–a teenage girl named Max Caulfield in a new school, trying desperately to find her place while simultaneously just trying to stay out of everyone’s way. Her one friend is her camera which she takes everywhere and after a jarring event takes place on school grounds, Max discovers she has an incredible time-bending power. The whole thing is wrapped in a murder mystery with a side of romance to boot and season 2 will likely be just as enthralling. With a plot like that, it’s easy to understand why Flopywette has taken a shine to the game.
There’s plenty of pictures of Chloe with the main protagonist, Max Caulfield, showcasing the relationship the two girls have with one another during the events of the game. This relationship is one of great importance to both the game’s story and to players. In order to have cosplayers Harikaw and Faithcael accurately portray these characters, not only did the look have to be right, but the chemistry between them had to visible as well.
Scrolling through Flopywette’s Deviantart page paints a rather quick picture that Life is Strange and the universe it created is quite important to them, as it is for many gamers. The main draw for a game like Life is Strange is typically the characters and so having two strong women as the leads hit home for a lot of people. It makes sense to want to portray these characters in a positive light through cosplay when they made such an impact.
Photo credits for the first picture shown here go to Garnet Angeldust Photographie, which also photographs many other gaming-related cosplayers. Their Facebook page shows many familiar faces, including Overwatch’s Tracer and League of Legends’ Morgana. The second picture was taken by Harikaw and Faithcael themselves. I recommend checking out any of the talented names linked throughout this article if you like what you’ve seen here.
