Crowdfunding has become an all but mandatory phase for any independent game development cycle, and that is no different for Digital Sun Games and their title Moonlighter, an action RPG with magnificent pixel art, which just met its Kickstarter goal of $40,000.
Moonlighter is a unique title as it puts you in the shoes of the adventurer as well as the shopkeeper, as you’re traveling to dungeons and killing monsters, gathering loot that you then bring to your shop in order to maintain an income. With inspirations like Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap and Studio Ghibli this game is bound to offer a stylized yet very appealing aesthetic.
While the developers have stated that combat is the primary focus of the game, selling loot at the shop is also a key aspect of the game, and is crucial to upgrading the shop as well as gathering equipment.
The developers at Digital Sun Games have offered numerous tiers of pledges on their Kickstarter campaign, with the minimum of $12 awarding you a copy of the game, while the maximum of $10,000 gets your name in the credits as executive producer as well as a meet and greet with the developers of the game. If you want to pledge make sure you do so before July 3rd.
