Following their previous promotion, the Pokémon Company is now giving another batch of mega stones to Pokémon Sun and Moon players.
Sun and Moon are the latest entries in the iconic Pokémon franchise. Released in November 2016, the games are still a major hit among fans. Part of its success is attributed to the rise of Pokémon GO (Android and iOS), but Sun and Moon are good in their own right. This new generation didn’t bring as many new monsters as previous ones, but the introduction of regional variants, as well as the exclusion of the national dex, were rather interesting moves from the developers.
The lack of a national dex means that a considerable amount of creatures can’t be caught in the wild. In fact, these monsters that can’t be caught in the wild don’t even have an entry in the Alolan pokédex, although a few are available through the QR code feature known as Island Scan. It’s still possible to trade pokémon not normally available in the Alola islands or to transfer them via Pokémon Bank. When transferring via the bank application, any held items are lost and with that in mind, the developers have decided to distribute mega stones for Sun and Moon.
This new batch, released today, contains four stones: one of each Pidgeotite, Steelixite, Heracronite, and Houndoominite mega stones. These are used to mega evolve Pidgeot, Steelix, Heracross, and Houndooom respectively during battle. None of these are available in the wild, but each can be transferred through Pokémon Bank or traded through link trade, GTS, or wonder trade.
To acquire these stones, launch your copy of Sun or Moon from your 3DS menu and upon reaching the main menu, select the option “mystery gift.” Then, select “receive gift” and finally, “get with code/password.” Upon reaching the password screen, input the word AZUL and hit the confirmation key. Just make sure that your 3DS have enough battery and that there are no connection issues as any problems may result in the gift being lost. Once the game confirms you’ve received the gift, talk to the delivery man found in any Pokémon Center to receive the package.
Pokémon Sun and Moon are available now for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems.
