FINAL FANTASY XIV is a Japanese MMORPG part of the celebrated FINAL FANTASY franchise, developed and published by Square Enix. The second exclusively online game in the main line of titles, FINAL FANTASY XIV was originally released in 2010 to an overwhelmingly negative reception. After a new development team was assigned to the project in an attempt to address its many issues, it was decided that the game would be reworked from the ground up in a new engine. The first version was shut down in November 2012, with the second, dubbed A Realm Reborn, releasing almost a year later in August 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Windows PC. It has ever since captivated FINAL FANTASY fans who note how polished and current the game is, with its first expansion, Heavensward, releasing in 2015 and its second expansion, Stormblood, due to 2017.
FINAL FANTASY XIV is available for Windows PC from Steam and the official website, OS X, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4.
