Hyper Dragon Ball Z

Its always intriguing to see how far fans will go to showcase not only their individual talents, but their passion for a particular product. Whether its mods, fan art or a full game, its a familiar and pleasant sight to behold when players go that one step further.

In this instance, based on the immensely popular anime franchise, Hyper Dragon Ball Z is a prime example of combining two entities in a potent, heavy-hitting cocktail for fellow fans to enjoy. Bringing characters of the Dragon Ball series to a format emulating old Capcom fighting games, Hyper Dragon Ball Z offers both enjoyable fighting gameplay and a fair amount of depth for a fan-made game. Hyper Dragon Ball Z was initially developed by Balthazar and Cybaster, before recruiting more members of staff to bring the project to fruition.

Characters in the game so far include series’ mainstays such as Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Freeza, and Mr. Satan, as well as SSJ Goku, Majin Vegeta, Ultimate Gohan and Babidi. More fighters are set to follow, with the likes of Gotenks, Super Buu, Tien, Krillin and Android 18 currently being worked on.

The current build features Golden Freeza as a secret bonus boss, replacing SSGSS Goku and SSGSS Vegeta in the previous build. This latest version also includes a palette for SSJ Goku to make him look like Goku Black, which can be accessed by holding Start/Enter and A/Light Kick.

Hyper Dragon Ball Z is now available for download (link in Youtube description), and be sure to check out the trailer below.
