Survival games are a very popular genre in the video game world. They offer (most times) a very believable look at the world after a major crisis or disaster happens. The best ones take those scenarios and put you in conditions that force you (and by extension your avatar) to think about what to do next, and how to do it. For every decision could be your last. This is exactly the thought process for The Deep Woods.
For in this game, the world has been hit with a big catastrophe, electricity is no longer available to anyone. Because of that, communication is basically non-existent between cities and its people. Everyone is alone, and everyone has to survive. It’s clear from the outset that the team is going for realism here. As the environments are very detailed, with textures, and even the atmosphere, being very crisp and tight.
Now, what separates this Kickstarter from others is that the project right now is in the very beginning phases of the project. In fact, the KS itself is funding nothing more than the trailer. While you might think that odd, consider this, how many people use trailers to decide whether they are interested, or even buy, a AAA title? Now consider how much more important a first impression is for an indie game. There you go.
Once the full-on trailer is made, they’ll begin a second Kickstarter to fund the game itself. Funnily enough, the project has already hit its funding goal. So The Deep Woods trailer will be made. But, there’s still a chance for you to check it out and pledge yourself.
