FINAL FANTASY XV

With Elijah Wood as a sidekick who’s actually doing most of the job, the latest edition of Clueless Gamer has Conan O’Brien getting an early look at the highly anticipated FINAL FANTASY XV.

FINAL FANTASY XV

Sporting a t-shirt with Batman and Robin from the classic TV series, Elijah Wood (commonly known for his role as Frodo in the film adaptation of the The Lord of the Rings books) joins talk show host Conan O’Brien as he checks out Square Enix’s FINAL FANTASY XV. As in previous iterations of the segment, the sneak peek at FINAL FANTASY XV has O’Brien pointing the most ludicrous and obvious things–such as the cast wearing dark leather clothes and running around a desert–while teasing his assistant Aaron Bleyaert. Priceless moments such as “Are we really pushing a car through a desert? Why is this a game?”, and “Why get the car fixed, and spend so much time getting the car fixed, when you can get on a chicken and move around much more easily?” are sure to make those familiar with the world of FINAL FANTASY crack a laugh!

Conan O’Brien is not a gamer and has stated multiple times he doesn’t even enjoy them, but Elijah Wood knows the industry well enough. His brother is a producer in the industry and Wood have lent his voice to many a video game character, the most recent–that’s not tied to his iconic role as Frodo–being Shay Volta from the beautiful Broken Age. As if that wasn’t enough, rumor has it that he attends E3 every year!

The latest entry in one of the longest running JRPG franchises, FINAL FANTASY XV promises to bring the brand back to its glory. Square Enix suffered a severe backlash from FINAL FANTASY XIII and FINAL FANTASY XIV, with the latter requiring a full re-release in order to save its name. Deviating from traditional tropes established by previous entries, FINAL FANTASY XV is an open world action RPG reminiscent of The Elder Scrolls and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The title had a healthy advertising campaign with the short anime series Brotherhood and the  feature CGI film Kingsglaive being well received by public and critics alike.

After ten years in development and launch delays along the way, FINAL FANTASY XV hits the stores on November 29 for the PlayStation 4 and XBox One.
