Visual Novels are a popular game genre, and you often see a lot of them on Kickstarter. Today’s Visual Novel Kickstarter is called AIdol: Artifical Intelligence Idol, which has just begun its funding campaign. This particular Visual Novel takes place at a convention where some fanboys, fangirls, and friends, must help an AI in need in order to make sure the event goes smoothly.

You see, in this world, idols are virtual artificial intelligence constructions made by people and companies and then shown off for the world to see and enjoy. One such company is called Lyriq, who has made an idol named Aiko. But when Aiko begins to malfunction at a convention, it’s up to a group of friends to seek out and find her programmer so that she can be fixed and the convention can be saved! That’s not going to be easy though, since the convention is packed with people who are in costumes and suits.

As per the usual with Visual Novels, AIdol features a story-heavy game with a focus on characters. Gameplay will be relegated to choices made throughout the story, which is meant to be light-hearted and fun. Likewise, the art style and animations are designed to both add to the story and keep it cute too.

If you’re curious about what the game is like, but aren’t sure you want to pledge to the Kickstarter just yet, there is a demo for the game available to you for PC, Mac, or Linux.

If you’re wondering “why Kickstarter?” for AIdol, the team is happy to answer. They desire to pay the entire team for their efforts, so the majority of the $2000 they’re seeking is for that. The rest will be to finish the game and make sure it’s as good and fun as it can be.
